This member of the
Ranunculaceae family was described by Linnaeus under the name Helleborus
hyemalis in 1753, and later in 1807 by Salisb. It is found in
France, Italy and in the Balkan, growing in woods. It flowers with
the rather large yellow flowers in the late winter. The stem will
reach for 5 centimetres, the bulbs are up to 2,5 centimetres. It can
be reproduced both by seeds and bulbs.
