Mother plant in Mexico, not sure of the ID!

This member of the Fabaceae family was described by Carl von Linaeus in 1753 (and many others since...). It is found in the southern part of North America and Mexico, growing in well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. It can grow to three meters height, and the stem can get 35 centimetres in diameter. The flowers are red.
