This member of the
Fabaceae family was described by Spreng. in 1926. It is found in
Mozambique and down to South Africa Eastern Cape Province, growing
in a well-drained soil with little water and lots of sun. It will
rise for 3,5 meters, and has a lot of scarlet flowers. It can be
reproduced both by seeds and cuttings.
Named after Sir Abraham Hume, student of the botanist J.E. Smith,
and Erythrina comes
from the Greek, and means red
