The flowers
from a close related Hypoxis, and the buds on mine. Seems
to dry out before opening.

This member of the
Hypoxidaceaefamily was
given this name by
William John Burchell in 1816. It is found in Southern Africa,
growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. I
think (!) the bulb will grow to five centimetres and the leaves to
30 centimetres. The flowers are bright yellow.
Also seen as a member
of the Anthericaceae and Liliaceae families.
The name Hypoxis is
coined from the Greek words hypo meaning below and oxy referring to
the pointed base of the ovary or fruit.
