This member of the Portulacaceae family was described by Engelmann in 1868. It is found in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and north-western Mexico. It grows in a well drained soil with some to a lot of water and some sun. It grow up to fifteen centimetres, the flat caudex to two centimetres, the flowers are white-pink.
