This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was described by Jacquin in 1797 (or John Bellenden Ker Gawler?). It is found in most of the Southern Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The bulb grow to four centimetres in diameter, the grass-like leaves to 20 centimetres. The flowers are white, and besides from seeds, the plant can be reproduced by bulbs.
