This member of the Menispermaceae family was described by Lewis Leonard Forman in 1980. It if found in the dry forests of Cambodia and Thailand, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow up to 30 centimetres or more. The vines will grow to four meters or more. The small flowers are greenish yellow.

The genera name after Stephan Ladislaus Endlicher, 1804-1849, an Austrian botanist who formulated a major system of plant classification. The species name means 'cork bark' for the caudex.
