This very endangered member of the Portulacaceae family was given this name by Hershkovitz in 1991. It is found only on the Galapagos island San Cristóbal, living in a small area on the slopes of a volcano. It grows in the well-drained volcanic soil with some water and lots of sun. The flowers are white, and it can be reproduced both by seeds and by cuttings.
