Another time

This big boulder of Høvængestenen is also known as Dødemosestenen. It is found near Øster Ulslev. It is located right next to the road. It is also known as Dødemosestenen. It is the second largest stone in Denmark.

Location: Høvængevej 12, Øster Ulslev - just across the road from the house.

Size: 4 metres high, 7 metres wide and 9 meters long. Estimate weight 737 tons.

Meaning of the name: Named after the area; Hay-field-stone.

Material: Gneiss or is it red granite?

Origin: ?

Legend: It is said to be thrown by trolls from west towards Nysted, but was so huge that it didn't reached all the way.
The second legend tells that some creatures called "højfolket" have retrieved the stone from the bottom of Maribo Lake. They buried their gold and silver underneath, before they left Lolland.
It is also said that the stone turning when it smells like fresh bread.
