Another time

This big boulder of Musestenen is found on the shore of Faxe Bugt. It was found 15 metres out in the bay untill the ice brought it up in a tree top in the winter of 1892-93.

Location: Ny Strandskov 7, 4640 Faxe and then 650 metres south-west along the coast.
GPS: 55.233753, 12.229810

Size: 2,3 metres high, 4 metres wide and 5 meters long.

Meaning of the name: The mouse stone. It should resemble a crawling mouse.

Material: Granite

Origin: ?

Legend: It has been thrown from Møn of a powerful Mønboer, probably in the winter of 1892-93. At that time the throw was made, was the winter very strict - and the stone landed in a heap inflated ice. Perhaps the stone landed in ice pile because it actually turned up of ice in just the winter. But of course it's not as fun.
Another  handover would know that an angry sorceress from Møn threw the stone with her garter, hoping to hit the King of the Elves. The garter burst, and the stone came no further than the edge of the beach where it has since remained.
A third legend tells that "Muse stone" comes from a quarrel between the Norwegian Dovregubben and Stevn's Cliff King. Dovregubben wanted his son married to Cliff King's daughter, which the latter opposed. Dovregubben was so angry over that he broke off a piece of rock and hurled it toward Stevns Cliff to kill the cliff king. However he failed his throw, and the mountain piece landed at Vemmetofte Beach.
It is also said that it is the troll from Møn who threw the stone after Spjellerup Church, as he could not stand the sound of church bells.
One trail goes: It was thrown by a Karl on Møn for his unfaithful girlfrien, who lived there on the shore, but it did not reach land or her.
Thrown from Møn of a virgin who hated the virgin monastery.
Thrown by a Swedish Witch after Vemmetofte Church bells, which she got upset to be able to hear the sound.
From Muse stone comes the little children!
