ANCIENT STONES

Discovered in 1921 as a threshold stone in front of the south, late-medieval porch and  recycled for the casting of a new concrete staircase. It is now found in the porch with Runestone Gørlev 2. It have runes on two sides.

The stone is granite, and 315 centimetres high, 88 centimetres wide and 35 centimetres thick. It was carved between 800 and 850.

The inscription: "Þiūðvī ræisþi stæin þannsi æft Ōðinkaur. FuþąrkhniastbmlR. Niūt vel kumbls! þmkiiissstttiiilll [=þistill/mistill/kistill], iak satta rū[na]R ret. Gunni, ArmundR ..."
Translated: Þjóðvé raised this stone in memory of Oðinkárr. (Fuþork). Make good use of the monument! {þmkiiissstttiiilll} = Thistle, mistletoe, casket. I placed the runes rightly. Gunni, Armundr ...
