   This diocious member of the Euphorbiaceae family was first described by Hooker. It is endemic of the Great Karoo, south of Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape. Grows in well-drained peat with lots of water when in growth and some sun. It will grow to 10 centimetres in diameter and 20 centimetres high. The flowers are, as shown, green, and it can be reproduced by cuttings as well. Rikke's is from Roskilde 2001.

The name Euphorbia comes from Euphorbos, doctor of King Juba II. The name obesa from obese; shape of the plant.
